Spotted Turtledove

Streptopelia Chinensis AKA Spotted Dove
Introduced Asiatic species to Australia.
These two are a bonded pair that nest in the Lilly Pilly trees in my backyard. The female, nearest the camera, is a direct descendant of a dove that first nested in this yard 21 years ago, shortly after the house was built. You can see from their colouring how over time this strain has deviated from their original ancestor which had true spots on their wings (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_…).
